Information for Parents and Students

Posted March 9th, 2012 by Mr. Brown

Welcome Link parents and students.  I hope that the information that I am providing helps to answer a few of the questions that you may have about the Link Physical Education Program.

All students will receive an evaluation mark in physical education.  The descriptor states: “Demonstrates physical competence, cooperation, and safety in individual, team and fitness activities.”  The evaluation mark that will be used to rate this area is: 4 Working Beyond Standards, 3 Achieving Standards, 2 Progressing Toward Standards, 1 Working Below Standards.

The evaluation mark will be determined by my observation of your child’s skill level in game play; their ability to utilize appropriate game strategy; their demonstration of good sportsmanship; their level of effort; and their performance on unit skill test.

Gym Shoes

Gym shoes are required for participation in physical education activities.  Not having the proper shoes may cause your child to be excluded from activity, thus impacting their evaluation mark.  Please keep in mind that trendy gym shoes may not be the safest purchase for your child.  Shoes that have very thick soles, open toes, high heels, wheels and shoes without laces or Velcro ties would not be acceptable.

Medical and Parent Notes

A note from a parent requesting their child be excluded from physical education class will be honored.  Generally, the note will be accepted for up to three days.

A child that returns a doctor’s note will need a medical release from a doctor to return to physical education activity.  Depending on the diagnosis, your child’s doctor could limit physical activity (needs to be specific) or may order a total exclusion from participation.

Have a great school year!
