Thank you to all of the families who were able to join us for Curriculum Night on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces! In order to feel prepared for the first day of school, we are resending some helpful information. Please take some time this weekend to use the resources below as we gear up for a great start. Remember, our school day begins promptly at 8:40AM.
For Zoom on both the iPad and Chromebook, it is important for students to sign into Zoom first before they actually get into a Zoom session. The videos provided below show how students sign in, and how they will use links to get into a Zoom.
Below you will find two brief run-throughs on how students will sign in and be present in their classes on the first day. The videos highlight 3 key points – how to login/join, how to switch between classes, and how to navigate to tasks/activities. There is a video for Seesaw and a video for Google Classroom.
Students will need to open Seesaw and go to your child’s homeroom class and navigate to activities to obtain the Zoom link for the morning.
Students will need to check their Gmail in order to get the join codes for the first day of school.
A D54 family Virtual Learning Website has been created that includes common tech tutorials including accessing Seesaw and Google Classroom. We hope you find this resource helpful!
People experiencing problems with District 54 technology (Chromebooks and iPads for students) should email [email protected] so that they can troubleshoot the problem via phone or email.
If the problem cannot be resolved, we have a technology drop-off program and will notify you of those next steps. You must first email [email protected] Please include in the following in your email: student first and last name, school name, grade level, Chromebook or iPad number, and brief description of the problem.
Hotspots are available for families who do not have internet access at home. Please contact our office at 847-357-5300 if you need a hotspot.
Please see the attached letter explaining the School District 54 Instructional Device Protection Plan, which is an optional protection plan for your district-issued device. If you choose to purchase this protection plan, please log in to the Parent Portal to pay the fee. Please note, you must purchase the protection plan prior to the first day of school. Lunches and milk will be available for pick up for families enrolled in our school lunch program from 10:00-11:00AM beginning on August 24. Pick up will take place at door #1. Please reach out to the office at 847-357-5300 if you have any questions.
Kindergarten families are invited to pick up iPads, textbooks, workbooks, and other instructional materials on Wednesday, August 26 between 11:00AM-1:00PM. Please pull up to the front door and remain in your car. A staff member will bring the materials to you.
